Assassination of John F. Kennedy
The assassination took place in Dallas while JFK was traveling through Texas during his 1964 presidential campaign. He wanted to bring Democrats living there together. JFK decided to visit Texas even though he had known that the political tension was absolutely huge after the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Adlai Stevenson had been physically attacked a month earlier after making a speech there. Kennedy was assassinated on 22 November 1963 near Texas School Book Depository while he and his wife Jacqueline were riding towards the Trade Mart where the President was scheduled to speak. An assassin responsible for Kennedy’s death was Lee Harvey Oswald. He was a former American soldier with a pro-soviet political view.
