Vladimir Lenin
Vladimir Ilich Ulyanov, one of the most influential dictators in the world that undoubtedly changed the course of history, was born in Ulyanovsk in 1870. As a teenager, Lenin became politically radicalized after his older brother was executed in 1887 for plotting to assassinate Tsar Alexander III. Later that year after his expulsion from Kazan Imperial University, Lenin immersed himself in the writings of Karl Marx and two years later he became a marxist. For his engagement in marxist activities Lenin was exiled to Siberia for three years where he married Nadezhda Krupskaya. They later moved to Germany and then Switzerland, where he met other European Marxists. During this time, he adopted the pseudonym Lenin and established the Bolshevik Party .
