Revenge Bedtime Procrastination
Many young Chinese workers prioritise leisure time
over sleep after long workdays – even though they know it’s unhealthy. Because
of China’s notorious ‘996 schedule’ (working from nine in the morning to nine
in the evening, six days a week), a huge part of them is depressed and deprived
of their personal life. The phenomenon when people who don’t have much control
over their daytime life refuse to sleep early in order to regain some sense of
freedom during late-night hours is called "revenge bedtime procrastination" and it's
getting more and more popular.
In my opinion, sleep is a crucial need
in everybody’s life and it shouldn’t be shortened. Eight hours of sleep per day is a
minimum and in order to live a happy life, we have to stick to it. It may seems
cool that you can sleep 5 hours a day without any obstacles but that’s just a
delusion. A lack of sleep has many negative effects such as weakening immunity,
high blood pressure, mood changes and even memory issues. Sometimes in a country
like China, people are so busy climbing the career ladder that they don’t even
have time for sleep and I reckon that’s a short-sighted decision

I didn't realize they have a 12----hour working day in China. If this isn't a violation of human rights, I don't know what is!
